Songs of love and wonder that turn our eyes to our Triune God, the kindness of our Savior and our longing for home. The opening song, "I Have Been Baptized Into Christ," was inspired by the baptism of our children and Romans 6 which tells who we truly are: buried and risen with Christ to walk in newness of life! "Holy Spirit of God," is a hymn inspired by the Nicene Creed and Scripture on the Third Person of the Trinity. "Jesus Ever Prays for Me" revels in the wonder and comfort of knowing that at this very moment our Savior intercedes personally for all who belong to Him. Near the close of the album, "There is a Place," (one of our favorite hymns) reminds us that our true home is waiting for us.
The title track comes from 2 Corinthians 12. In God's upside down kingdom, our weakness is exactly where God's power is most clearly displayed. Songs and hymns of worship and thankfulness fill the rest of the album. The conclusion is an orchestral setting of one of the most epic passages in Scripture. Right in the middle of Paul's intellectual masterpiece that we find in Romans, he explosively breaks out in an anthem of absolute awe: "O the depth of the riches of the wisdom and the knowledge of God!" We could think of no better way to end this collection of songs: "for from Him, and through Him and to Him are all things!" (Romans 11:36)
Our first offering of Psalm settings (with many more to come, Lord willing!). The album begins and ends with the first and last Psalm. Psalm 1 celebrates the blessing of a life centered on God's word. The rest of the songs explore the brilliant and heartfelt writing of the Psalmists: A call to worship. Thankfulness for the Lord's deliverance. Songs of trust. A royal coronation (pointing to Jesus) from Psalm 24. A plea for help. A heartfelt song of confession and prayer for guidance from Psalm 139. The album concludes with Psalm 87 and 150 which connect us with our longing for a better world. A better day is coming.
This collection includes some of our favorite Psalms, hymns and spiritual songs. Every line of these songs is drawn from Scripture. We hope these songs bring you joy as you dive into the Word and see Jesus there.
