You are Glorious
CHORUS
You are Glorious and Mysterious
Beyond all human understanding
You have rescued us in Christ Victorious
Bless the Triune Lord
Holy, Holy, Holy Lord
One God in Trinity
To the Father, Son and Holy Ghost
Be praise eternallyChrist our God,
You walked the earth in great humility
To suffer death upon the cross
In love and agonyChrist is risen from the dead
Let every tongue confess
Bow before the Risen Lord
In endless thankfulnessKing of kings and Lord of lords
Faithful, Just and True
May all our joys and happiness
Begin and end in You

Holy, Holy, Holy Lord Holy, holy, holy is the Lord of hosts; the whole earth is full of his glory! (Isaiah 6:3)
One God Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one. (Deuteronomy 6:4)
in Trinity / To the Father, Son and Holy Ghost
Be praise eternally ...in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit... (Matthew 28:19)
You are Glorious And now we thank you, our God, and praise your glorious name. (1 Chronicles 29:13)
and Mysterious, Beyond all human understanding Oh, the depth of the riches and wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are his judgments and how inscrutable his ways! “For who has known the mind of the Lord, or who has been his counselor?” (Romans 11:33-34)
You have rescued us in Christ Victorious But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. (1 Corinthians 15:57) / And you, who were dead in your trespasses...God made alive together with him, having forgiven us...by canceling the record of debt that stood against us with its legal demands. This he set aside, nailing it to the cross. He disarmed the rulers and authorities and put them to open shame, by triumphing over them in him. (Colossians 2:13-15) / But when the goodness and loving kindness of God our Savior appeared, he saved us, not because of works done by us in righteousness, but according to his own mercy, by the washing of regeneration and renewal of the Holy Spirit, whom he poured out on us richly through Jesus Christ our Savior, so that being justified by his grace we might become heirs according to the hope of eternal life. (Titus 3:4-7)
Bless the Triune Lord ...we will bless the Lord from this time forth and forevermore... (Psalm 115:18)
Christ our God ...our great God and Savior Jesus Christ, who gave himself for us... (Titus 2:13-14) / But when the fullness of time had come, God sent forth his Son, born of woman, born under the law, to redeem those who were under the law, so that we might receive adoption as sons. And because you are sons, God has sent the Spirit of his Son into our hearts, crying, “Abba! Father!” (Galatians 4:4-6)
You walked the earth in great humility ...though he was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped, but emptied himself, by taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of men. And being found in human form, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross. (Philippians 2:6-8)
To suffer death upon the cross
In love and agony And when they came to the place that is called The Skull, there they crucified him, and the criminals, one on his right and one on his left. And Jesus said, “Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do”...Then Jesus, calling out with a loud voice, said, “Father, into your hands I commit my spirit!” And having said this he breathed his last. (Luke 23:33-34,46) / ...when Jesus knew that his hour had come to depart out of this world to the Father, having loved his own who were in the world, he loved them to the end. (John 13:1)
Christ is risen from the dead And they found the stone rolled away from the tomb, but when they went in they did not find the body of the Lord Jesus. While they were perplexed about this, behold, two men stood by them in dazzling apparel. And as they were frightened and bowed their faces to the ground, the men said to them, “Why do you seek the living among the dead? He is not here, but has risen. Remember how he told you, while he was still in Galilee, that the Son of Man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men and be crucified and on the third day rise.” (Luke 24:2-7)
Let every tongue confess
Bow before the Risen Lord
In endless thankfulness Therefore God has highly exalted him and bestowed on him the name that is above every name, so that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. (Philippians 2:9-11)
King of kings and Lord of lords On his robe and on his thigh he has a name written, King of kings and Lord of lords. (Revelation 19:16)
Faithful, Just and True Then I saw heaven opened, and behold, a white horse! The one sitting on it is called Faithful and True (Revelation 19:11) / Just and true are your ways, O King of the nations! (Revelation 15:3)
May all our joys and happiness
Begin and end in You And the ransomed of the Lord shall return and come to Zion with singing; everlasting joy shall be upon their heads; they shall obtain gladness and joy, and sorrow and sighing shall flee away. (Isaiah 35:10 & 51:11 - identical verses)

In the Arms of Christ
Here there is no strong or weak
No rich or poor, no Jew or Greek
Here there is no west or east
No great or small, no slave or free
Here is death to human pride:
This precious blood, this tree of life
In the weakness of a cross
The power of God
This is where all strivings cease
This is where the blind can see
This is where the lost are found
This is where our sins were drowned
This is where guilty run
This is where the curse is done
This is where the dead are raised to life:
In the arms of Christ (2x)

Here there is no strong or weak
No rich or poor Thus says the Lord: “Let not the wise man boast in his wisdom, let not the mighty man boast in his might, let not the rich man boast in his riches, but let him who boasts boast in this, that he understands and knows me, that I am the Lord... (Jeremiah 9:23-24)
no Jew or Greek Here there is not Greek and Jew, circumcised and uncircumcised, barbarian, Scythian, slave, free; but Christ is all, and in all. (Colossians 3:11)
Here there is no west or east Fear not, for I am with you; I will bring your offspring from the east, and from the west I will gather you. (Isaiah 43:5) / [Jesus said],“I tell you, many will come from east and west and recline at table with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob in the kingdom of heaven (Matthew 8:11)
No great or small And from the throne came a voice saying, “Praise our God, all you his servants, you who fear him, small and great.” (Revelation 19:5)
no slave or free For in one Spirit we were all baptized into one body—Jews or Greeks, slaves or free—and all were made to drink of one Spirit. (1 Corinthians 12:13) / Now before faith came, we were held captive under the law, imprisoned until the coming faith would be revealed. So then, the law was our guardian until Christ came, in order that we might be justified by faith. But now that faith has come, we are no longer under a guardian, for in Christ Jesus you are all sons of God, through faith. For as many of you as were baptized into Christ have put on Christ. There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is no male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus. (Galatians 3:23-28)
Here is death to human pride: Two men went up into the temple to pray, one a Pharisee and the other a tax collector. The Pharisee, standing by himself, prayed thus: ‘God, I thank you that I am not like other men, extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even like this tax collector. I fast twice a week; I give tithes of all that I get.’ But the tax collector, standing far off, would not even lift up his eyes to heaven, but beat his breast, saying, ‘God, be merciful to me, a sinner!’ I tell you, this man went down to his house justified, rather than the other. For everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, but the one who humbles himself will be exalted.” (Luke 18:10-14) / But he gives more grace. Therefore it says, “God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble.” (James 4:6) / But far be it from me to boast except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by which the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world. For neither circumcision counts for anything, nor uncircumcision, but a new creation. (Galatians 6:14-15)
This precious blood ...you were ransomed from the futile ways inherited from your forefathers, not with perishable things such as silver or gold, but with the precious blood of Christ, like that of a lamb without blemish or spot. (1 Peter 1:18-19)
this tree of life They put him to death by hanging him on a tree, but God raised him on the third day... (Acts 10:39-40) / He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, that we might die to sin and live to righteousness. By his wounds you have been healed. (1 Peter 2:24)
In the weakness of a cross Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God. (Hebrews 12:1-2)
The power of God For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek. For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith for faith, as it is written, “The righteous shall live by faith. (Romans 1:16-17) / For the word of the cross is folly to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God. For it is written, “I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and the discernment of the discerning I will thwart.” Where is the one who is wise? Where is the scribe? Where is the debater of this age? Has not God made foolish the wisdom of the world? For since, in the wisdom of God, the world did not know God through wisdom, it pleased God through the folly of what we preach to save those who believe. For Jews demand signs and Greeks seek wisdom, but we preach Christ crucified, a stumbling block to Jews and folly to Gentiles, but to those who are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God. For the foolishness of God is wiser than men, and the weakness of God is stronger than men. (1 Corinthians 1:18-25)
This is where all strivings cease Be still ["cease striving" in NASB], and know that I am God (Psalm 46:10) / I have seen everything that is done under the sun, and behold, all is vanity and a striving after wind. (Ecclesiastes 1:14)
This is where the blind can see In that day...out of their gloom and darkness the eyes of the blind shall see. (Isaiah 29:18) / "One thing I do know, that though I was blind, now I see." (John 9:25)
This is where the lost are found For this my [prodigal] son was dead, and is alive again; he was lost, and is found.’ And they began to celebrate. (Luke 15:24)
This is where our sins were drowned Who is a God like you, pardoning iniquity and passing over transgression for the remnant of his inheritance? He does not retain his anger forever, because he delights in steadfast love. He will again have compassion on us; he will tread our iniquities underfoot. You will cast all our sins into the depths of the sea. (Micah 7:18-19)
This is where guilty run ...let us also lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking to Jesus... (Hebrews 12:1-2)
This is where the curse is done Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us—for it is written, “Cursed is everyone who is hanged on a tree”—so that in Christ Jesus the blessing of Abraham might come to the Gentiles, so that we might receive the promised Spirit through faith. (Galatians 3:13-14)
This is where the dead are raised to life: For this my [prodigal] son was dead, and is alive again; he was lost, and is found.’ And they began to celebrate. (Luke 15:24)
In the arms of Christ The eternal God is your dwelling place, and underneath are the everlasting arms. (Deuteronomy 33:27) / He will tend his flock like a shepherd; he will gather the lambs in his arms; he will carry them in his bosom, and gently lead those that are with young. (Isaiah 40:11)
In the arms of Christ Jesus wept. So the Jews said, “See how he loved him!” But some of them said, “Could not he who opened the eyes of the blind man also have kept this man from dying?” Then Jesus, deeply moved again, came to the tomb. It was a cave, and a stone lay against it. Jesus said, “Take away the stone....” So they took away the stone. And Jesus lifted up his eyes and said, “Father, I thank you that you have heard me. I knew that you always hear me, but I said this on account of the people standing around, that they may believe that you sent me.” When he had said these things, he cried out with a loud voice, “Lazarus, come out.” The man who had died came out, his hands and feet bound with linen strips, and his face wrapped with a cloth. Jesus said to them, “Unbind him, and let him go.” (John 11:35-44) / I will arise and go to my father, and I will say to him, “Father, I have sinned against heaven and before you. I am no longer worthy to be called your son. Treat me as one of your hired servants.”’ And he arose and came to his father. But while he was still a long way off, his father saw him and felt compassion, and ran and embraced him and kissed him. And the son said to him, ‘Father, I have sinned against heaven and before you. I am no longer worthy to be called your son.’ But the father said to his servants, ‘Bring quickly the best robe, and put it on him, and put a ring on his hand, and shoes on his feet. And bring the fattened calf and kill it, and let us eat and celebrate. For this my son was dead, and is alive again; he was lost, and is found.’ And they began to celebrate. (Luke 15:18-24)

God of Ages
Spirit All Glorious How much more will the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without blemish to God, purify our conscience from dead works to serve the living God. (Hebrews 9:14)
Sent from heaven It was revealed to them that they were serving not themselves but you, in the things that have now been announced to you through those who preached the good news to you by the Holy Spirit sent from heaven, things into which angels long to look. (1 Peter 1:12)
To the broken The Spirit of the Lord God is upon me, because the Lord has anointed me to bring good news to the poor; he has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to those who are bound (Isaiah 61:1)
Forever dwelling in us And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another advocate to help you and be with you forever— the Spirit of truth. (John 14:16-17)
Comforter, come fill our hearts And do not get drunk with wine, for that is debauchery, but be filled with the Spirit, addressing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody to the Lord with your heart, giving thanks always and for everything to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ (Ephesians 5:19-20)
Come and breathe in us The Spirit of God has made me, and the breath of the Almighty gives me life. (Job 33:4)
*This is the portion of the Nicene Creed (325-381 AD) used in the chorus: “We believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life...With the Father and the Son he is worshiped and glorified. He has spoken through the Prophets...
Holy Spirit of God ...the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption. (Ephesians 4:30)
Lord and Giver of Life Now the Lord is the Spirit... (2 Corinthians 3:17) / And we all, with unveiled face, beholding the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from one degree of glory to another. For this comes from the Lord who is the Spirit. (2 Corinthians 3:18) / It is the Spirit who gives life (John 6:63)
With the Father and Son
Be worshipped and glorified in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit (Matthew 28:19)
Holy Spirit of God ...the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption. (Ephesians 4:30)
You have spoken
Through the prophets For no prophecy was ever produced by the will of man, but men spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit. (2 Peter 1:21)
Through the Gospel of Christ because our gospel came to you not only in word, but also in power and in the Holy Spirit and with full conviction. You know what kind of men we proved to be among you for your sake. (1 Thessalonians 1:5)
Where the Spirit
Of the Lord is
There is freedom and life Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom. (2 Corinthians 3:17) / The Spirit of the Lord God is upon me, because the Lord has anointed me to bring good news to the poor; he has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to those who are bound (Isaiah 61:1 / Luke 4:18) / It is the Spirit who gives life (John 6:63)
You live It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh is no help at all. The words that I have spoken to you are spirit and life (John 6:63) / If the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, he who raised Christ Jesus from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through his Spirit who dwells in you (Romans 8:11) / And I will put my Spirit within you, and you shall live, and I will place you in your own land. Then you shall know that I am the Lord; I have spoken, and I will do it, declares the Lord.” (Ezekiel 37:14)
You speak And when they bring you to trial and deliver you over, do not be anxious beforehand what you are to say, but say whatever is given you in that hour, for it is not you who speak, but the Holy Spirit. (Mark 13:11) / “The Spirit of the Lord speaks by me; his word is on my tongue. (2 Samuel 23:2) / For it is not you who speak, but the Spirit of your Father speaking through you. (Matthew 10:20)
You help the weak Likewise the Spirit helps us in our weakness. For we do not know what to pray for as we ought, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words. (Romans 8:26)
You guide When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all the truth, for he will not speak on his own authority, but whatever he hears he will speak, and he will declare to you the things that are to come. (John 16:13) / “Brothers, the Scripture had to be fulfilled, which the Holy Spirit spoke beforehand by the mouth of David concerning Judas, who became a guide to those who arrested Jesus. (Acts 1:16)
You grieve Yet they rebelled and grieved his Holy Spirit. So he turned and became their enemy and he himself fought against them. (Isaiah 63:10) / And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption. (Ephesians 4:30)
Convict Nevertheless, I tell you the truth: it is to your advantage that I go away, for if I do not go away, the Helper will not come to you. But if I go, I will send him to you. And when he comes, he will convict the world concerning sin and righteousness and judgment. (John 16:7-8)
and intercede Likewise the Spirit helps us in our weakness. For we do not know what to pray for as we ought, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words. And he who searches hearts knows what is the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for the saints according to the will of God. (Romans 8:26-27)
You call While they were worshiping the Lord and fasting, the Holy Spirit said, “Set apart for me Barnabas and Saul for the work to which I have called them.” (Acts 13:2)
You seal ...set his seal of ownership on us, and put his Spirit in our hearts as a deposit, guaranteeing what is to come. (2 Corinthians 1:22) / And you also were included in Christ when you heard the message of truth, the gospel of your salvation. When you believed, you were marked in him with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit (Ephesians 1:13) / ...the Holy Spirit of God, with whom you were sealed for the day of redemption. (Ephesians 4:30)
You teach for the Holy Spirit will teach you at that time what you should say.” (Luke 12:12) / But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you. (John 14:26)
reveal It had been revealed to him by the Holy Spirit that he would not die before he had seen the Lord’s Messiah. (Luke 2:26) / these are the things God has revealed to us by his Spirit. The Spirit searches all things, even the deep things of God. (1 Corinthians 2:10) / which was not made known to people in other generations as it has now been revealed by the Spirit to God’s holy apostles and prophets. (Ephesians 3:5)
You turn our eyes
To know the love of Christ And hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit, who has been given to us. You see, at just the right time, when we were still powerless, Christ died for the ungodly. (Romans 5:5-6)
